Each One Teach One: If you take one hour of your day, each day, you might be able to make a difference in somebody’s life, giving practical look to this slogan; Student teachers of our institution in the light of showing social responsibility, render voluntary service to the under privileged to eradicate the illiteracy among the women. In this programme, students take the responsibility of teaching one women for a month one hour per day.

Practice: Onsite experience of special education schools

Goal of the Practice

  • To provide an opportunity for comprehending needs of special children with reference to Hearing Impaired, Visually Impaired and mentally retarded through onsite experience

Process

  • One of the Core paper deals theoretical aspect of special children and their needs, which is dealt by faculty during classroom teaching.
  • Learning is made more concrete by arranging visit on special days to Hearing Impaired, Visually Impaired and mentally retarded in the vicinity of our college.
  • Students are grouped with respective in-charges to carry out interaction, collection of data and presentation.
  • The success of activity is evaluated in classroom when group leader share their experiences.

Practice: Ek Muthi Yojana

Goal of the Practice

  • To develop sense of social commitment among the students
  • The basic purpose of conducting novel activity “Ek Muthi Yojana”is serving the underprivileged sections of the remote and inaccessible nearby rural areas

The Process

  • • Fistful of grains is contributed by every student and staff for certain period .The collected grains is distributed on some special occasion or day.

  • Develops a sense of Commitment towards the society among the students.
  • It develops qualities like sensitivity, empathy among the students. Thereby it develops social values.

Practice: Ek Fruit Yojana

Goal of the Practice

  • The basic purpose of conducting novel activity “Ek Fruit Yojana” is serving the underprivileged sections of the society

The Process

  • One fruit is contributed by every student and staff .the college arranges a visit to special centers like old age homes, orphanages, children with special needs. At these centres the collected fruits is distributed on some special occasion or day

Practice: ROTI bank

Goal of the Practice

  • The basic purpose of conducting this novel activity Roti Bank to provide food for needy students

  • A ROTI box is kept at the entrance, students and staff keeps a packet of lunch in it. These are later on taken by those students or class IV employees need it

Practice: Collaboration with NGO (REAP)

Goal of the Practice

  • To develop sense of social commitment among the students towards underprivileged children of society
  • Teaching to the underprivileged children in slum areas at REAP centres by our college student

The Process

  • On every Saturday our B.Ed students go and teach underprivileged children at the REAP centre in slum areas of Mumbai and Thane
  • The students teach them basic communication skill, alphabets and songs by using teaching aids.

  • Develops a sense of commitment towards the underprivileged group of society
  • It develops qualities like sensitivity, empathy, adjusting with the student from a different economic background and understanding the ground realities of these children from the slums

Practice: Adoption of village -Ambeshivwadi

Goal of the Practice

Practice: - Use of Suggestion Box in User survey

Goal of the Practice

  • To collect feedback on the use of resources, facilities and services by the Library to enhance further.

The Process

  • Usually keeping the suggestion box is mere formality but we turned this suggestion box to obtain specific or and general opinions of the library resources, facilities and services. The opinions are collected periodically and discussed in the Library Committee for further improvement.

Impact of the practice

  • Unbiased and freely expression of users with transparency are the basic stint in this mechanism It helps to obtain a clear mirror image of library resources, facilities and services from the user community. It is also helped to identify the user needs and in decision making process of library like collection development. Simply it is acting as pandora box of library to enhance the library resources and its services.

Resources required

  • Timely and periodically reviewing of received suggestions and unbiased mission oriented library personnel and participative library committee is required to carry out this mechanism. Recording of such suggestions and recommendations for future developments.

  • Unbiased decision making authority with bird-eye-view of library operations is main attribute here.

Practice: - Article Index Initiative for Back volumes of Library

Goal of the Practice

  • To locate the desired articles in the back volumes of Library.

The Process

  • In the library back volumes are an important factor to judge the quality of Library. Generally these back volumes are stacked untouched. The access of the desired article/s is/are not an easy task for any Library. To rout out this grim reality the “Article Index initiative” is conceived. A data base is created and searching options by first two characters or word of the article to be typed, the moment database make process and flash the searched result. On seeing the desired article/s user can note the corresponding back volume number and locate the desired item with out any time delay

Impact of the practice

  • It helps to improve the full utilization of back volumes and gives justifications for the expenditure what we made on the journal subscriptions. Instead of keeping the back volumes as quality measure of library they are turned in to resource centre for research and better information access and act as web for back volumes. Ultimately those unused back volumes are turning in to usable.

Resources required

  • Simple knowledge on any computer language for database creation. Hands on training to library personnel to enter the articles’ information into the article index initiative database. Further dedicated and enthusiastic library team is necessary to carry out the process successfully

Remarks

  • It act as a OPAC for back volumes of the library. It is acting as measure for performance of journals and the cost benefit analysis of library journal allocations. Further it boosts the use of primary literature

Practice:- Book Exhibition on Specific Themes

Goal of the Practice

  • The basic purpose of organizing book exhibitions on specific themes is intended to make awareness amongst readers and full utilization of available books in the specific subjects.

The Process

  • All the available books of our library in the particular theme are collected and made display. The readers are invited to see and facilitate them.

Impact of the Practice

  • By this readers are come to know the available resources on particular theme and it boost them to refer further readings. Secondly it was justifying the cost effectiveness and cost benefit analysis for budget allocation. Even it develops habit of book readings.

Resources required

  • The whole hearted and dedicated library personnel and sufficient books and other library resources are required.

Remarks, if any:

  • By this students and faculties are come to know the library holdings and it motivate them to use effectively. Being the College of Education the available Biographies and Related Literatures of Educational Philosophers such as Swami Vivekanand, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawhar Lal Nehru and Dr.B.R. Ambedkar are made display for abreast reading.

Practice: Special Focus on Slow Learners in their Academic Achievement

Goal of the Practice and Objective

  • To identify the students having low academic achievement.
  • To identify slow learners on the basis of their achievement.
  • To adopt appropriate remedial measure.
  • To develop academic achievement among them.

Process

  • The faculty monitors the progress of the students’ regularly
  • The academic achievement of the students are analyzed by the faculty
  • The students with low academic achievement are identified.
  • Enough time is given to the identified students for preparing the content again with proper counseling
  • The faculty conducts re-exam for such students.

  • The slow learners are benefited from the practice of re-exam.
  • It improves their academic performance in due course.

Practice: Each One Teach One

Goal of the Practice:

  • The Women Development Cell has both the faculty and students of the College as its members and works with an aim to create a gender sensitized community within campus as well as in the society.
  • The main motto of the practice was to teach women who are unable to read and write their own name

Process:

  • Seva Sadan's College of Education celebrated ''International Women’s Day'' organized by the Women Development Cell on 8th March, 2022 at 12:00pm in the Auditorium.
  • This year the theme for the celebration was 'Each One, Teach One'.
  • Each student accompanied with one participant i.e.  their mother, grandmother, sister-in-law.
  • The student teachers  taught their companion to hold pen and made them aware about the alphabets in the language in which the participants were comfortable.

Impact of the Practice:

  • Students involved in activities willingly.
  • Motivation by faculty in charge led to initiative by the student teachers.
  • Each student accompanied with one participant i.e.  their mother, grandmother, sister-in-law.
  • The student trainees taught their companion to hold pen and made them aware about the alphabets in the language in which the participants were comfortable.
  • The participants enjoyed this activity as the student trainees gave them practice in writing their names
